1. Information We Collect

When you use SettleTab, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your email address (or Google/Apple account identifier) when you sign up.
• Profile information: Your display name and optional payment identifiers (UPI ID, PayPal username) if you choose to share them.
• Expense data: Group names, expense descriptions, amounts, and split information that you create within the app.
• Device information: Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications) and basic device identifiers for crash reporting.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the core expense-splitting functionality of SettleTab.
• Sync your data across devices when you sign in.
• Send push notifications about group activity (if enabled).
• Send invite emails on your behalf when you invite someone to a group.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored locally on your device and, when synced, on our cloud servers powered by Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is protected by Row Level Security (RLS), ensuring users can only access their own data and data from groups they belong to.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared in these limited circumstances:

• Within your groups: Other members of your expense groups can see expense data, balances, and settlement information.
• Payment information: Your UPI ID or PayPal username is only visible to group members if you explicitly enable the "Share Payment Info" option in your profile settings.
• Service providers: We use Supabase for data storage and authentication, Resend for sending invite emails, and Expo for push notifications. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data at any time through the app.
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.
• Export your expense data from the app.
• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings.
• Withdraw payment info sharing by toggling it off in your profile.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all associated personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

SettleTab is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
